McG Wants to Direct Ryan Reynolds in Adaptation of R.I.P.D.« FirstShowing.net

R.I.P.D.

Despite the fact that he's had his fair share of problemsgettingasolidcasttogetherfor the action comedyThis Means War, it looks likeMcGis already trying to line-up a follow-up project.Pajibareports that the director ofCharlie's AngelsandTerminator Salvationis circling an adaptation of the Dark Horse graphic novelR.I.P.D.(or Rest in Peace Department), a project weheard about back in April. At the time,Ryan Reynoldswas attached to star (and that still seems to be the case) in this story of a dead cop who makes a deal to work one hundred years in divine law enforcement in exchange for a shot at finding who killed him.

Though Reynolds would be the lead,R.I.P.D.will actually be a buddy-cop action comedy and Universal has high hopes of gettingZach Galifianakisto star opposite Reynolds. Of course that's justwish-casting, and though it'd be interested to see these two working together, I'm standing by the fact that Galifiankis is either going to get overexposed or just become really tired from working so much in just a couple years. However, ifR.I.P.D.would really be McG's follow-up toThis Means War, then it's surely a couple years away. For now the project is still in early development with all the involved talent being incredible busy and not necessarily locked in to play yet. For now count me intrigued, but I'm waiting for more official news first.Thoughts?
