Just because a whole slew of projects already haveRyan Reynoldsattached, that's not going to stop him from adding another project to his future slate.RiskyBizreports Reynolds is going to team-up withBradley Cooperfor abuddy cop action comedyfrom screenwriterSheldon Turnerwho was nominated for an Academy Award for writingUp in the Airwith director Jason Reitman. The currently untitled film would see Cooper and Reynolds as two San Francisco cops and friends, whose fathers were once partners on the police force. Things get interesting when they have to bring their fathers out of retirement to help crack a new case.
Surely plenty of its comedy will come from the difference between the two generations of police officers, but with Turner writing, there's bound to be some genuine drama in there somewhere, too. Apparently the tone is something akin to aLethal Weaponpolice comedy and will be in R-rated territory. Apparently this project was once attempted five years ago (back then it was calledBlowback) and had Dwayne Johnson attached to star. This new version from producers Neal Moritz (Fast Five,Green Hornet) and Andrew Panay (Wedding Crashers) isn't yet set up at any studio yet, but with names like Cooper/Reynolds involved, it should only be a matter of time. I definitely think it has potential, but the question is how soon this will get off the ground with Reynolds' (who will also produce) schedule filling up rather quickly. Stay tuned as the project develops.
