First up,Deadlinereports Voltage Pictures is following their Best Picture winning movieThe Hurt Lockerwith a project calledGeneration Um. Mark Mann will write and direct the story starringKeanu Reevesas a man with two beautiful female companions as they spend a day immersing themselves in sex, drugs and indecision.Bojana Novakovic(Edge of Darkness) andAdelaide Clemens(Mad Max: Fury Road) take the two female roles as Voltage hopes the film picks up steam for awards season next year.

Meanwhile, in that sameDeadlinearticle announcingGeneration Um, there's an extra tidbit of news that saysColin Farrellhas fallen out of theSheldon Turner directeddramaBy Virtue Fall. Both he and Eric Bana wereinterested back in June, but apparently weren't impressed with the paycheck that would come along with the work. While it's not entirely clear if Bana has stayed on board, apparentlyJeremy Renner(The Hurt Locker) is in talks to replace Farrell. However, Renner'srecent castingin the next installment of theMission Impossiblefranchise may prevent him from striking a deal.

Also,VarietyreportsMalin Akermanwill join Ethan Hawke for the thrillerThe Numbers Station.Kasper Barfoed(The Candidate) will direct the film which follows a disgraced black ops agent (Hawke) tasked with a dead-end job of protecting a young woman (Akerman) in the middle of the Nevada desert. When the two come under attack, they have to fight to stay alive. The $10 million budgeted film is scheduled to shoot early next year with Hawke also producing through his Under the Influence Productions company. The film is is looking to get sold at the Toronto International Film Festival which is going on right now.

Next,Varietyalso reports the hilariousJoel McHalewill join the cast ofSpy Kids 4(the franchise reboot) for director Robert Rodriguez. McHale will be playing a spy-hunting reporter who is married to Jessica Alba, the stepmother to his kids who actually become the new young spies. McHale has had small roles in films previously (includingSpider-Man 2) but recent turns in The Informant and forthcoming films likeWhat's Your Number?andThe Big Yearare pushing him towards a huge boost in his career. That's only good news for people who love McHale's comedic stylings and will be happy to see him get the career he deserves.

Finally,Varietyreports that the lovelyChristina Hendrickshas taken a role in Nicolas Winding Refn's adaptation ofJames Sallis' novelDrive. Hendricks joins Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston and Albert Brooks in the story of a Hollywood stunt drive (Gosling) who moonlights as a getaway driver in L.A.'s criminal underworld. He finds himself a target after agreeing to aid the ex-con boyfriend of his beautiful neighbor (Mulligan) in a job that goes dangerously awry. The only way he can keep her safe and stay alive is to put the pedal to the metal.
