Confirmed: Elijah Wood Returing as Frodo Baggins for'The Hobbit'« FirstShowing.net

Yesterday, we heard Warner Bros. would pay for the entire$500 million pricetagto finally get the long-gestating adaptation ofThe Hobbitoff the ground with Peter Jackson at the helm. While the cast has certainly been growing over the past few months, yesterday's news brought an interesting new addition in the form ofElijah Woodpotentially reprising his role asFrodo BagginsfromThe Lord of the Rings. Because of his relation toThe Hobbit'smain character, Bilbo Baggins (to be played by Martin Freeman), this didn't seem absurd, but nowTheOneRing.nethas confirmed the return as Frodo and details on the size of his role in the film.

Though initially, the two-part adaptation would have used the first film to tell the story ofThe Hobbitand the second film to bridge the gap between that story andThe Lord of the Rings(by way of all the appendices from J.R.R. Tolkien's universe), the film is simply a two-part telling of the singular book. And so, TheOneRing.net has confirmed that Elijah Wood will appear as Frodo in theopening sequences of each film. The story ofThe Hobbitis being told to Frodo at the same time it is being told to the audience. So we're all just having a good ole Middle-Earth story time together. I'd be willing to bet Frodo would also appear at the end of the second film and if Bilbo is telling the story, that he might say something along the lines of,"Maybe some day you'll have an adventure of your own."That would be a nice lead-in to theLord of the Ringstrilogy. What do you think?
