Although they already started principal photography this week, the cast is just coming together now.Heat VisionreportsAdam Brody,Marley SheltonandErik Knudsen("Jericho") have joined the cast ofScream 4. Brody plays a recent college graduate who's a cop; Shelton plays a deputy who knew Neve Campbell's character in high school, which Lake Bell had been cast in untilshe dropped out; and Knudsen plays a horror movie convention nerd who's the comic relief. In related news,SlashFilmsays thatLauren Grahamhas also dropped out ofScream 4, leaving her role as Emma Roberts' mother vacant.
To preserve the identity of the killer, director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson are operating under several layers ofsecrecy, including not sending the script to agencies. At a table read last week, the actors were told to stop reading at page 75 to prevent even those already cast in the film from knowing the climax. It's a bit sad to see Marley Shelton as a replacement for another actress, as I consider her quite talented and underused. As for Brody and Knudsen, they're probably just more famous faces ready to be killed. Shooting is already underway up in Michigan and Dimension Films has set this for release onApril 15thnext year.
